You know how many Asian American they are? And how many of them live in those you called separated way - China town, Japan town, etc. Do your math.
I have friends from a lot of countries: China, Japan, Korea, German, Italy, Norway, Africa countries, South America. Many of them volunteer in community work - community events, school help, sports activities volunteering, etc. And for your knowledge, those Asian friends of mine, they do go to China town to shop, but not as you said live in those places. You know why United States became a great country? That is for those people from other countries they brought their value, culture, and hard work to make it great.

I like what you said here Savannah I feel more of kinship now. By the way, my grandmother was a native american of the Houman tribe, too. America ia a melting pot, but the one reality of it is, we all have one common goal (the equality of all humanity as one)! As for the pun about history, my father and my grandfther themselves were world history professors so I grew up hearing it everyday. My wife is also an asian american, Japanese to be exact, and as she often tells me herself, asians are racist, though, they use the same excuses that asian americana use today to separate themselves from the rest of american society. Therefore, I can only speak from her own experiences too. Even more, I have sponsored for the last few years asian high school students (from china, vietnam, and korea too) and been to their communities too. I have even eaten at their tables, listen to their viewpoints, and heard the same things I have told you I heard from them. In the end, a few of those students I "home-stayed" with came back to tell me the truth too. They finally admitted, "yes, you are right, for the most part, our people (speaking of asians here) are indeed racist. They create excuses, they disguise it very well too, but they are racist, Teddy!" To date, though my survey is limited (around 200 asians in fact), of 200 asian interviewed or my having been associated with them and in their environment, 198 were racist and only 2 were not racist. If you do some basic sociology mathematical constructs, that amounts to 99% racist and 1% not racist. These statistics are alarming to any true born and bred americans of non-white origins, too. I personally think that the usa government, INS, needs to interview these new potential immigrants before they come here and ask them the same questions the sociology professor expounded. If they come up with the same answers you expouse, then they need to be left in their own countries for eternity. We have enough asian american racists in the usa now so we don't need any others, hope you get my viewpoint? Am I a racist, as you expouse, "No, I am not, if I were I would never have married an asian american, now woould I?" Am I for asian emigration to the usa? Yes, I am, but for those who would use our kindness and equality of humanity to continue their archaic beliefs and stay outside of kinship with the rest of us, they don't need to be here! Now for further proof of my non-racist views, next time you reply, I will give you the names of prominent asian american leaders, chinese and otherwise, I have worked shoulder to shoulder with to help a chinese american scientist, you may have heard of him, Dr. Wen Ho Lee, who was accused of espionage, to get out of a usa prison, so, my asian sister, please do not label me a racist by no means. What have you done for your fellow ameridans, non-whites, in your lifetime to show your respect for them? Have you eaten at their tables, have you been to their homes, have you seen the world through their eyes? I think not! But I am always open-minded, give me some proof, give me some examples, of your efforts to foster respect in your own environment or among other asian americans please!!!

Final note here. Respect comes from kinship and friendship, got it? To show one's respect invite a non-white american to your home, go to their house too. Let them "break bread with you," listen to the words they tell you about the way they live, ask them questions as to how you could do something to make their life a little better. Then ask them, "how do you view the way asians treat you in this country, and please tell me honestly how you feel about asian ameericans?" I kiss my japanese wife every morning and in the evening too. She is sweet man, hahaha...but she tells me all the time, "Teddy, why you keep trying to change my people man, you know it's never going to work. They are stuck in what they believe in and that's all so quit and give up, at least you got me...hahaha...and I don't hate ya! For poor deluded Savannah, however, I really do hope the rest of america (non-whites, whites, otherwise) would share your honest opinions of the way you view asian americans though. Simple, GD, stop being a hypocrite, if you say you respect other groups then prove it by deed not by words! Words are easily spoken and forgotten just as well, too. Since you are chinese american, I know plenty of them also who live in a small southern town in Mississippi, called Greensville, Mississippi. The entire town is chinese or of chinese origin of Fujian province refugees who left right after Chairman Mao took over. All the signs of the stores are in chinese and english too. The Mayor of the town is one of my best friends too but he will be the first to tell you, "Ted, you are right most of us are racists or biased!" To him I give the greatest praise, for 50% of the battle to change a person who thinks in that way, is for them to admit they harbor racist or bias against those of non-white origins!" If Savannah wants praise, acceptance, and respect let her show it with more than her lips, understand? One more note, I also walked side by side with the ex president (taiwanese american named Cecilia Chang) of the "New Immigrants" organization (for chinese american rights here in the usa a few years ago for Dr. Wen Ho Lee), would you like to hear what she had to say concerning her fellow chinese americana, "Ted, she said, "I am so ashamed of my people (fellow chinese and chinese americans here), they isolate themselves all the time, when their fellow chinese ask them for help they avoid it, cause in their viewpoint, it's your family problem not mine," get it? Another one of my Professor friends, a german born in East Germany during World War II, then later became a usa citizen and german teacher at my university once told me, by the way, he is now deceasesd about 3 years ago, about his life in nazi germany as a 6 year old boy and later about his life when he left East Germany at the age of 15. To quote from Herr Heckles, "Nazi germany was such a racist regime when I was young they never said it outright but the "brown shirts" (Hitler's Goosesteppers, Heil Hitler) let it be known that all other groups, with the exception of germans (referred to as aryans), were not full german citizens. My mother and father, both catholics and christian, knew what they(the nazis) were doing was wrong but as most germans did, we were too scared to stand up to them and say, "Everyone is a human being and they are not animals they are germans just like us!" To me he said, "Herr Chapman, I was wrong too I knew what the brown shirts were doing to the jews, gypsies, and non-whites were wrong but I was only 6 yers old so I was afraid too. To this day, I regret my not being stronger or speaking out by word and deed against that cruel regime!" I regret not telling my fellow germans, "We needed to show by our actions in opposition to the Brown Shirts, they needed to respect those people, too!" But we never did, so, though we knew we were wrong too, we actually condoned what they did by not speaking out, by not standing up, by not inviting the jews and oppressed non-whites into our homes, as the dutch families did in Holland, to save people like Anne Frank's family! I'd like to hear your comments on this story people too, or, do you believe as they did (germans who never spoke up and showed up either), I can just keep it to myself and say I respect them but never do anything to demonstrate to them I respect them too? Think about it? Just some food for thought, alright?:-) If the shoe fits wear it and if not just put it in the back of your head and do what Wolfgang and the other germans did at that time. By the way, once Wolfgang emigrated to the usa at 15 years old, he worked hard, saved his money, and was always present at all groups (hispanic, black, even asian american protests against racism all over the usa) rights for equality and freedom in this country, too. This man became a "true patriot" for equality and friendship, few know of him, he is buried in a small cemetery in Greenville, Mississippi. If you ever go there hope you put some flowers on his grave? I go there once a year myself, when I am back home, and remember him as a "true american" (not just a emigrant but a patriot) that I will remember for the rest of my life!

Japanese-American internment was the relocation and internment by the United States government in 1942 of approximately 110,000 Japanese Americans and Japanese who lived along the Pacific coast of the United States to camps called "War Relocation Camps," in the wake of Imperial Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor.[1][2] The internment of Japanese Americans was applied unequally throughout the United States. Many of the Japanese Americans, after the war was over, often blame america's misconception of their loyalities due to the fact that they had very little interaction with other american groups due to their isolation in areas predominately controlled by Japanese Americans. There isolationism, and strict adherence to the customs and traditions of their japanese forebears created mass hysteria from the other groups native to the United States, therefore further exacerbating their dire condtions and rights violations on the West Coast area of the continental United States.

Perhaps you can now see why asian american isolationism in their own closed communities created a hysteria that caused them to be misinterpreted by their fellow white and non-white americans. This lead to their imprisonment for over 5 years. haha! I do not think they found it a funny situation at all!:-( do you? They lost their houses, their land, their businesses too all because they wanted to maintain the customs and traditions of their forebears! After the war was over a majority of them then found out that 'breaking bread" with their enemies (whites and non-whites) might not be such a bad idea, huh? As a result of their campaign to show themselves as normal aveage americans those same whites and non-whites enacted laws to reimburse the Japanese Americans for their losses. Though they could never really recovered the full amounts of their losses, still it was a step in the right direction by them "opening up their doors and their homes" to their fellow americans, is it clearer now? "Those who fail to learn the lessons of the past ( asian=american history) will eventually suffer the same fate as those before them!"

I did not say you should; I said "Why don't you thank them for giving you a job there?" It is an option that you can make - to hate or to like. No one can force you to do thing you don't want to do. To stir up the racism will do any good to you, or just to let you have a moment of gratification? So many Asian people live in the United States, only a tiny fraction of them live in what you called separate community. Many Americans live in separate communities too when they live overseas. Why don't you criticize them? Be fair, and be kind. This world had enough wars, many of them are unnecessary ones. An eye for an eye will only end up causing you blind. See through the skin and nationality. Be happy with the diversity and try to learn something from each ethic group. No one is perfect, no nation is all bad either. Have peace.

These are the innocents, another fact to mention was North Korea actually went into piracy at one time kidnapping japanese citizens from cruise lines which we have all heard about here, did you know that? One of my japanese cousins was captured in this way and forced to live in North Korea for 22 years of her life. She was raped repeatedly by north koreans called a slut, whore, and other nasty names as well. The usa government, along with Japan, intervened for her release as soon as the North Koreans let them know what they had done to them. The USA in no way wants to use aggression on North Korea, but if you knew your facts you would also know that the innocents in north korea are suffering food shortages, medicine shortages, power shortages too. And in fact, North Korea is shipping and supplying Iran and other "resistance groups to usa aggression" nuclear equipment and weaponry that can be used in the future against the american people (I think you are both usa citizens too as I am?) to destroy our food supplies and damage our infrastructure (our ability to respond to emergencies readily, threats, etc., etc.)! I applaud China for standing up to help their asian brothers (North Korea), on the other hand, I condemn China for not looking into and investigating further, why the innoocents in North Korea have to suffer for their leaders committment to the destruction and upheavals, through direct breaking of the rules the United Nations had approved, to stop them!

First let's begin with those things outside the USA:

1. First thing is wages for the poor (support in every country where you are there fair wages for the poor in those countries). You may not be able to say so directly, but, you can send money to fund groups that help the poor, ever heard the expression money talks?
2. Rights for all people that have insurance problems (fund or help groups with donations and finances or the creation of businesses within that country to make health care, financial benefits for the death of their loved ones, too.
3. For asians all over (in asian counries) foster by word and deed whenever time avails you from your job (relationships, dialog, and friendship groups that promote anti-racist rhetoric on common grounds as love, the economy, non-political agendas.
4. For all, more love (by relationship, fellowship, and association with) instead of hate! Ask the questions that need to be asked, let them know you are open to hear their ideas and philosophies, then let them know before the discussion, if my answers or questions offend you in anyway I will hear what you have to say (means equality of ideas). This does not mean though that you are acquiescing to their ideas if they are racist, understand? The point of this being you are letting them hear the truth, from your side, what they do with it is not your problem it is theirs! Once you have gained their trust they will listen to you but it does not mean they accept it either but at least they heard the truth, get it?
5. And let the old be ha, you can never change them but the youngers ones have hope.
6. Let the banks help chinese peple get in buisnesses more that open them up to international business and the rules of the game there are fairness, honesty, and openness not dishonesty, racism, or hidden agendas.
7. And tell the chinese men to treat thee ladys like princesses not dogs! I see them beating women so much over here and if you intervene as a foreigner you are the one wrong for interfering with a domestic dispute, that is downright archaic and it needs to be changed.

Next Let's Begin With Those Things Inside the USA:

1. First thing is wages for non-white poor (support in every way possible where you are there fair wages for the poor in our own country). You may not be able in the beginning as a new business owner to fund groups that help the poor, but, as soon as you can, let the emloyees know you working with them to promote benefits for their good as well as your own.
2. Promote rights for all people that have insurance problems (fund or help groups with donations and finances or the creation of businesses within your own country to make health care, financial benefits for the death of their loved ones, available too.
3. For asians all over (in the usa) foster by word and deed whenever time avails you from your job or businesses (relationships, dialog, and friendship groups that promote anti-racist rhetoric on common grounds as love, the economy, and politcs, too. How do you do this? If you are not willing to open up your homes, then public facilities, at low cost, are available to you to have such meetings. I found in my home city in the usa, civic centers and public library rooms (in other states I am not sure but in the southern region I am from, the library time was made available for free to us. In the beginning you may wish to cost cut by posting signs in your own community or neighborhood, or later, as the group grows, you can put "ads" in the local paper or in a university setting you can put up hand made posts that tell of, " An Open discussion on knowing your asian american neighbors as your friends, etc., etc., etc.!" In this way you foster relationship, respect, and equality too. Special note here, at one time I went to an asian american church (it can be a temple as well) I met a chinese american (whose parents were from taiwan) and he was a doctoral student in mechanical engineering. I was shocked one day when he told me, "Would you like to know the truth about us (chinese americans)? I said, "Yes, of course!" Then he opened up to me and said, "you know I use to think that we chinese here had problems unique to only chinese but since I have been here I have learned that "all americans" share the same problems, too. (haha) Then he added, "We chinese never discuss what happens behind closed doors of silence, however, it might be good I think now to open up and share!" I then gave him some advice as to how to deal with his parents problems with him dating an hispanic girl instead of a chinese one...lol!"
4. For all, more love (by relationship, fellowship, and association with) instead of hate! Ask the questions that need to be asked, let them know you are open to hear their ideas and philosophies even if those ideas are hurtful to you. Do I mean let them "rag on ya" (spit out their hatreds and anger on you), no sir or madam by no means. If they do, let them know you are here for discussion and you will take what they say into consideration, too.
6. Let them know you are here to let them know you, the real you, not the facade that most asian americans put on and the rules of this discussion are to promote fairness, honesty, and openness not dishonesty, racism, or hidden agendas.
7. And tell them what you like about the usa and what you do not like about the usa in an open frank discussion. If you are wrong in your beliefs be willing to admit that you never knew that and if you can, with all due respect, you will try to be nore aware of that in the future and change it. Another special note here. Once a Korean shop keeper told me, "Why do blacks get angry with us, we did not do anything bad to them all we did was put the money on the counter?" So, I was not sure myself, and I went to one of my black friends in the library setting discussion and asked him, "Can you explain to me why blacks do not like Koreans? He said, "Sure, Ted, many of the blacks do not like them because instead of putting their change back in their hands when they buy thiings from their businessess, the koreans put the money on the counter and make the blacks pick it up! I said, "What's wrong with that? He said, in our community not putting the money back in your hands is a sign of disrespect and rejection! Aha, now I understood cause many japanese do the same things too, haha. So, I went to the korean shop keeper and explained it all to him. From that point on the koreans changed for in their buddhist beliefs money is only a tool and point of revulsion to have in your hands (but we all love money honey), lol!

You are welcome Savannah but to answer your questions.So, this is for every Asian person? Young and old, wise or dull? From Japan to India? From Singapore to Korea? Yes? or No? The answer to these questions is "YES!"
They can perfect Asia? The answer is "No, for you see as long as we are human beings, we will always be imperfect, however, opening up dialog with these other asians, by the usa of asian americans who have re-patriated back to their former ancestral motherlands, will make them aware that their world is not as perfect and rosy as they think!" Democracy is a process Savannah by which the state and the people are constantly in a position of change and development. It is a democracy purely and simply because their is always a voice of opposition in it that speaks out! So, when there is a democracy, unlike many areas in asia that are dictatorial or authoritarian as Nazi Germany was the people need to hear the truth then make a decision. "My people perish for lack of knowledge!" Now to add a "ray of sunshine to an otherwise dull day read this.

"Time is of the essence you need to act now, because every minute counts in life. I and you and everybody else are here today, but then we are gone tomorrow. If possible act now, my good friend! Life is too wonderful to waste look at the trees the sky the stars that shine at night, if they took the time not to come out, like the sun, we would be in trouble now wouldn't we? Food would not grow, or trees give us oxygen either therefore all life would end on this planet, too. Thusly, it's up to every human being on this planet to insure that life goes on racism ends and we learn to love each other! Do I believe racsim will ever end, the answer is "Absolutely, No!" But for thoes of us who believe in love, respect and harmony we must be constantly on our guard that when "racism" raises its ugly head (whether asian racism, white racism, black racism, etc. etc..)we "hammer it down hard!"

Oh, by the way Savannah, only you and my japanese wife are hereby granted the status of "ambassadors extraordinaire" to communicate with the Champ,haha, lol. Of course I am joking here now, GD, my asian brother I am not going to leave you out either ok? Call me Champ if you like? Now, you see what the process of effective communication does, right? Since we now have an association (through dialog) we can joke with each other and still understand that we belong together and separate and apart.
