Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize
"The Nobel Committee said he won it for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples". The committee highlighted Mr Obama's efforts to support international bodies and promote nuclear disarmament." China must be happy Hu Jia didn't win anyway... China doesn't believe in the Nobel anymore since they gave a prize to Dalai Lama. Re: Obama Wins the Nobel Peace Prize

US President Obama certainly does not deserve this award, since he has yet to put an end to all of his country's illegal wars of aggression starting from the last Bush Administration.
Furthermore, how can he be said to be a bringer of stability when he condones official visits of the Dalai Lama to the US, which China obviously frowns upon. OBC Quote: Yeah i don't really get that.. how do you give the Nobel Peace Prize to a guy currently fighting two wars... its' pretty idiotic in my opinion. I have to agree, what exactly has the guy done, except become president and be black?
The Nobel peace prize seems more a popularity prize, it seems to be more fluff than actual substance. The guy has done nothing to promote any real lasting peace anywhere. The whole speel about why he got it, just made up BS, even sounds fabricated and flimsy. This guy is mediocre at best as president, and the only reason people won't say so is because they voted for the guy, and don't want to be made to seem like fools because they have been yammering about how he will change things. Peoples pride is more important to them than admitting they were wrong. Of course because they can't do this they will further reinforce their warped reasoning and decision making, by electing this guy again for a second term, just like they did George Bush. Nobel peace prize my ass, this guy is overwhelmed and under whelming as President, he deserves the booby prize instead. I'd say the reason no body will say he's not all that special is compared to Bush he's amazing... but pretty much everyone is so it's a little silly... Indeed, Bush was a moron, who got elected because of his namesake, and a wish to return to Regan era economics and policies. Politics in America has become nothing more than a family business, with other bushes wanting to run for office. They are not the only families who's names are so interlaced with politics though that their names alone get them elected. Politics in America is a joke if you ask me.
Obama got elected because people were so fed up with Bush they wanted the most radical change possible, thinking things would have to get a great deal better. Mediocre won't get that done. Can't really blame them though, I mean look at the alternative, Maccain was so out of control and unable to control his emotions it's funny. Even would he have made a good President, he was a lousy orator, which is all people care about these days. Also, fear of Sarah Palin possibly becoming the Pres ruined any chance he had. Whoever made the choice to have her be Vice Pres should be put in the Guiness Book of world records for dumbest idea ever. No one cares who the visa president will be, as long as it's a he, and he is old and wrinkly. Also, lets be real, Obama is half black, had he had lips the size of a tuba, skin black as pitch, and had the accent of a black guy from Philly, He'd have never been elected president. I disagree with the Chinese poster about the Dalai Lama, mans done a lot of good work, and the Chinese people have in large part been brain washed about the whole Tibet affair, big surprise there. However, giving it to Obama, what the hell has he done to win a Nobel prize, he's no mother Terasa that's for sure. Re: Obama Wins the Nobel Peace Prize

What did Obama do to get a Nobel Prize?
The claim of taking the troops out of Iraq? its not done yet, he said it just to get votes because most of the Americans are against the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. They don't want trillions of their tax money to be spent on wars, while the economy is going down the drain and hundreds of thousand are loosing their jobs. So he didn't deserve Nobel Prize for this claim. May be its the closing of Guantanamo. O really? its been a year and its still not closed yet. Then what else did he do to win this award? For his weapons sales? for sending additional troops to Afghanistan? For more drone attacks on Pakistan? Or may be he got it for his memorized speeches written by hollywood writers. You got to admit that Obama did not deserve the Nobel Peace prize. If someone really deserved the Nobel peace Prize, that's Gandhi. Re: Obama Wins the Nobel Peace Prize

There's a joke going around that the Americans would have voted a dog for president after Bush. Re: Obama Wins the Nobel Peace Prize

Astroboy : Who are the most brainwashed people in the world? Chinese? Russians? Indians? Muslims? No, The most brainwashed people in the world are Americans.
I mean, seriously, what kind of people will vote for a person like Bush? they even voted for him the second time. What kind of nation will vote for Obama, who is talking about ending one war and starting a couple of more, even bigger wars. Its really sad to say, some of the Americans still believe in 9/11 conspiracy theory, some of them still believe their troops are fighting for freedom, not for oil. If you use a little common sense, 9 years of war in Afghanistan and spending almost a trillion dollars on it, and still couldn't get Osama? While a Pakistani journalist working for private TV channel went to Afghanistan and interviewed Osama bin laden. Silly American still think their troops are their fighting against terror and fighting for peace and freedom. They believe they will win and return home soon after there is peace in Afghanistan. Yeah, that's what bush told them and that's what Obama is telling them. What they don't know is that their troops are not there to fight terror, they are not there to win and bring peace in Afghanistan. They will never win, because they don't want to win. Because if they win, and if there is peace in Afghanistan, they would have to leave Afghanistan, and that's what they don't want. They don't want to leave Afghanistan until they take out all the natural resources from Afghanistan. They wont leave Afghanistan until they use its borders in war with Iran and Pakistan and probably China too. They don't want to leave until they achieve their goals in Afghanistan. Same is the case with Iraq. Eternity92 Wrote:
------------------------------------------------------- > Astroboy : Who are the most brainwashed people in > the world? Chinese? Russians? Indians? Muslims? > No, The most brainwashed people in the world are > Americans. Bullshit. Sorry but it is. Yeah there are some brainwashed idiots there but if we're goin to talk about brainwashed how about a society who believes their fabricated and self loving history? Yeah Americans have some fake history but not nearly to the extent of some countries I could name. At least the Americans actually understand and know that Kent State happened. Yeah they voted in a retard. But you have to understand he was a VERY charming retard. Americans aren't as brainwashed as people think, they just don't care. They'd rather learn about the latest mystery of Lost than actually research the history and views of a possible leader. As well if we want to talk about Brainwashed, at least the Americans HAVE elections, if they actualy got off their asses they could change things. Many countries we could name couldn't be changed without a massive blood loss and a revolution. It's very popular to insult the Americans for their past transgressions but they have the biggest transgressions because they are the biggest country ( in terms of power). Brainwashing happens all over the world, I know Americans who are very aware of what's going on and I know Americans who have no idea. I know Chinese who are very aware and I know Chinese who have no idea. I know Indians aware and those unaware. If we want to start handing out awards for brainwashing the USA is not goign to win many awards. North Korea will win most categories, China will be on the podium too. The problem isnt' that the Americans are the most brainwashed, the problem is they have the most potential for not being brainwashed among those that are. Chinese people are FAR more brainwashed by their government. Just ask Chinese people to tell you why the Summer Palace was burned down, Why millions of people died during the Great leap Forward, What happened in the massacre we're not suppose to name, I could go on a very long time. BUT Chinese people have FAR less chance to not be brainwashed as everything around them is totally controlled. The USA is controlled as well but not to this extent. I never said Chinese aren't brainwashed, and I never said Americans are the only Brainwashed, I think China would come second in Brainwashing. Every country and every government brainwashes their people less or more.
But what you just wrote, think about it again. you just said They'd rather learn about the latest mystery of Lost than actually research the history and views of a possible leader Now think about what you just said? its the same like if you tell a chinese, your country has no democracy, he will say "shut up, its a people's republic, our government do everything for people". You also wrote "they have the biggest transgressions because they are the biggest country ( in terms of power). Hold on a second... Did you just say that a country less than 5% of the world's population has more than 50% of the world's military power? Wow, that's a real peaceful country, isn't it? Listen to this one you wrote "It's very popular to insult the Americans for their past transgressions" Well, nobody went into the past, we are not talking about the confession of "Robert Mcnamara" We were talking about the present issues, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and the pressure on Iran, Pakistan, Yemen, Indonesia, Sudan and so on. This is is the present not past. Americans made such a big issue when china banned youtube and facebook. But what about youtube and facebook deleting people and videos huh? What happened to the American freedom? Why did facebook deleted the fan group of Zaid Hamid???? Where is the American freedom when youtube deletes videos and accounts? I have been deleted from youtube and thousand of more people like me. Where is the Great American Freedom? You call that Freedom and democracy? Eternity92 Wrote:

No it's entirely different. If the Chinese people's answer was "I don't care, Supergirls is on!" that would be the same. But the majority of Chinese don't, they get offended by the very suggestion that there is something wrong. Many Americans do this as well but FAR fewer than in China. Most Americans are too lazy to learn. Most Chinese only learn what their government tells them. That's the difference. (I'm not saying being lazy is good, just that it's not the same as being brainwashed, although there are plenty of brainwashed Americans as well) > You also wrote "they have the biggest > transgressions because they are the biggest > country ( in terms of power). > > Hold on a second... I never said it was peaceful, it's a sick, militaristic country bent on world domination and a one world government ruled by the Bankers. But insulting Americans because of their actions while ignoring the digusting actions of other countries just seems a bit one sided to me. > Listen to this one you wrote > "It's very popular to insult the Americans for > their past transgressions" > Well, nobody went into the past, we are not > talking about the confession of "Robert Mcnamara" > We were talking about the present issues, > Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and the pressure on > Iran, Pakistan, Yemen, Indonesia, Sudan and so on. > This is is the present not past. yeah, I have no issue with saying the terrible things the USA has done. I've spent my life learning them and discussing them with my friends. I'm very aware of their disgusting actions. My problem is with your one sided view of things, Yes the USA is disgusting, but so is China and Europe and many other places. People say China is peaceful because it hasn't launched any wars on countries int he past 100 years (though even that's a lie), China has been peaceful for 100 years because they've been trying to overcome starvation and the destruction of their culture. If you look into the times when China WAS powerful, they were very militaristic. All world powers are. > Americans made such a big issue when china banned > youtube and facebook. But what about youtube and > facebook deleting people and videos huh? What > happened to the American freedom? Why did facebook > deleted the fan group of Zaid Hamid???? Where is > the American freedom when youtube deletes videos > and accounts? I have been deleted from youtube and > thousand of more people like me. Where is the > Great American Freedom? You call that Freedom and > democracy? Facebook and Youtube are privately owned websites, they are allowed to ban, delete or do whatever they want. (although facebook is actually controlled by the CIA through it's owners but it's still technically privately owned) The problem with China's controls is it doens't allow this information to even be viewed (or it tries anyway). it's a government banning information VS a privately owned company banning information. VERY different. it would be like if you went on Monsantos website and demanded you be allowed to post how disgusting and anti-farmer they are, yeah the information is true but it's still a PRIVATE website. Now if the US government blocked all mention of the genocide of the Native Americans and the Kent State Massacre I would agree that THAT would be equal. But the US government doesn't ban information ont he internet, only private websites do, sometimes it might be at the behest of the government, but it's still their choice on whether or not to do it. This is why the Google issue in China is such a MASSIVE issue, This is basically testing the Chinese waters for the same sort of thing, for a long time the Chinese government has said they will kick out anyone who didn't abide by their rules, but now Google is pushing them on it and seeing if they will stand up or sit down and so far China has been sitting down and taking it which is pretty amazing with the amount of other sites they've kicked out. To further illustrate what I mean lets look at Alex Jones, a man who has made his living making the US government look like militaristic, psychopaths who hate their own citizens. In the USA he has his own radio show, makes many documentaries which are openly for sale and continually talks about the US government needing to be overthrown. Can you honestly say this sort of talk would be allowed in China? Of course not because the US government doesn't ban information (or at least not nearly to the extent that China does as they do ban tax avoidance information). Re: Obama Wins the Nobel Peace Prize

Uberche I just joined this forum yesterday and its great to have these discussions with you.
let me tell you an amazing thing about facebook, when it was banned in summer 2009, my friend told me it was banned because it showed a video of han nationality killing the uighurs, which was completely opposite to which the Chinese media said. Now that's really bad, I admit. but a few days later I managed to open facebook through a proxy, and as I signed in, I saw a a video on my homepage, just a few seconds of video, but it wasn't posted in any group that I had joined, it wasnt added by my friends, nobody sent it to me... I had nothing to do with that video, but still it showed up on my homepage. why was that? because I signed in from china so facebook did that because they wanted more and more Chinese people to see it? or may be because I am a Muslim so they wanted me to see it and get pissed off? Have you ever noticed in several websites when you are in china, they show the ads about Chinese websites, But if you are in Canada the same website will show ads about Canadian webs or companies like when I sign in on tagged.com it shows me advertisement like "meet Muslim singles" and when my Indian Hindu friend signs in, he gets the ads of "desi singles" or "find a Hindu wife". yeah, it's location based advertising. basically the reason you saw the thing for that video is because it was the most popular among people of your type, Muslim and in China. I do see that it could easily be mis-used to direct attacks against certain groups of people and maybe it already it, no real way to know for sure but banning the site just seems a bit extreme. And happy to discuss with you as well, Most of the time I'm just arguing with Astroboy and OverseasbornChinese. Nice to have someone else here who has some views that aren't so one sided, most people tend to either be VERY anti-USA at the cost of all ability to see other's faults (that's why my first post may have been a bit strong and rude.. ) or very anti-China like Kurt who seemingly can't say anything nice about China or it's people ever. it's a bit tiring to be honest. haha Re: Obama Wins the Nobel Peace Prize

Kurt? hahaha that poor guy gets insulted everywhere, but he is just too stupid to realize it and stop doing that.
I am not an Anti American, I don't hate America or American people, I had an American girlfriend, unfortunately her father was too racist. Its just what the US government does is wrong, as I said and you said it too, most of the Americans dont support it. Its not done by the people but a few bankers as you said, who controls almost every government especially US government, a very few families that we all know. Most of the Americans are very nice, I have many Americans friends There are many things that I love about America, I love hollywood movies, I am a big fan of Emienm and Linkin Park. I love Starbucks ,I like Benjamin Franklin he was a great leader. and many more things that I like about America.
I am not a chinese who hate or love someone for a single reason, like a Chinese guy told that he loves America, I asked why, so he said because of Prison Break. Haha Prison Break and Gossip Girl... those two shows are my enemy, almost all of my students only want to talk about these shows, drives me nuts...
"Is life in the USA really like Gossip Girl!!?" "NO! GOOD GOD NO! Please stop watching TV if you can't tell teh difference between reality and fiction!!" Re: Obama Wins the Nobel Peace Prize

Alex.. who? I'm surprised you are able to access that. Nobel for Obama? Epic fail for Stockholm's decision... and it's independence. Silver.Panda Wrote:

I should state that this is not me saying Alex Jones is an intelligent person, he's a nutjob but he is a very knowledgable nut job which might be the most dangerous kind.. See... that's why he gets insulted everywhere. I do not care your opinions, because I don't know you.
My last explanation. It's crazy he never should have receive that award Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
