Hi all,
Does there exist a proverb or idiom in Chinese that is roughly the equivalent of the English saying, "don't judge a book by its cover?" Thanks Re: Chinese equivalent of "don't judge a book by its cover" idiom?

人不可貌相
it means one can not judge others just by their appearances. i think it is the same meaning as "don't judge a book by its cover" Re: Chinese equivalent of "don't judge a book by its cover" idiom?

Chinese equivalent of "don't judge a book by its cover" idiom is:勿以貌取人,which means you can't only judge someone or something just by their looks Re: Chinese equivalent of "don't judge a book by its cover" idiom?

Yes, both work. There is a Chinese idiom story section on my website. You are welcome to check it out. Re: Chinese equivalent of "don't judge a book by its cover" idiom?

人不可貌相 or 勿以貌取人
Both are correct, I think. The meaning is "Never judge a man by his looks." Re: Chinese equivalent of "don't judge a book by its cover" idiom?

Do not judge a person from their appearances. 海水不可斗量 hai3 shui3 bu4 ke3 dou3 liang2 The sea cannot be measured with a bushel.(profounding meaning: great minds can not be fathomed.) Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
