because i have seen the topic "What is your favourite Chinese song and singer?" i want to know what kind of Chinese movies and directors do you like best.Such us Zhangyimou, Fengxiaoning, Chenkaige, Fengxiaogang, Ninghao and so on.

I haven't watched a lot of Chinese movies. But of the few that I have seen, I can never forget the movie "The Road Home". It is a very romantic movie directed by Ang Lee and starring Zhang Ziyi. Very well made this one will put an impression on a romantic mind for a long long time. One of the best performance by Ziyi as an innocent country girl who fell in love with the handsome young teacher who came at the village to teach at the school built by the villagers. It is amazing to watch a beautiful yet innocent and witty girl in a very conservative society struggling with her first love situations.Even though there is a male and a female lover, she(Ziyi)becomes the center of focus in this well articulated story.Her joys for little gains and sorrow for whatever pains were portrayed brilliantly by Zhang Ziyi. Even at the end ( which is actually the beginning of the movie) she pays her due to her beloved husband in an uncompromising manner that shows true love never fades away.

My favourite Chinese movie so far has been A World Without Theives. Great story and acting. Want to watch more but not sure which is good, will keep an eye on this thread for more ideas.

Any movie with real kungfu players: Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Sammo Hung, Donnie Yen, etc... Everyone else are pretty much copycats. Those who would say Steven Segal, Chuck Norris, etc... are kidding. They can't really fight. It's just not real Kungfu. Actually, they weren't practicing KUNG FU, but rather a bad impression of it or any other practices, like Chuck Norris was actually practicing a form of Tae Kwon Do, and not Chinese Kungfu!!!
Steven Segal? I don't even know what the heck he's doing!!! It's just wrestling, plus something he sees and can't really do. The only westerner/foreigner/non-Asian really good at practicing Martial Arts? I'd give the credits to Jean Claude Van Damme [Muy Thai, Kickboxing, etc...].

Fengxiaogang is my favorite , i like his works ,most of them are comedies,and i really like the way he tell the story.

Féng Xiǎogāng, just excellent!! I watched "Aftershock" about a month ago. I really loved it!! Very well made.

in fact,i do not like chinese much,although their buildings and idea are cool,but they are not better than other movies cool. i always like some special movie like "cube", it is a great idea but chinese movie is not, they always use the same idea! but i am not hate chinese movie, i just think that watching an america movie is better than watching a chinese movie better.
