Why Chinese babies use less Diapers

Have you noticed that Chinese Baby use less diapers than western kids? Do you know why? We believe using less diapers are both good for the babies and for the envertiment. Chinese people use less diapers because we are influenced by famous Chinese philosopher Laozi, whose famous theory is Daoism.Everything needs a balance. I believe Laozi was the world’s first environmentalist. I think the world would greatly benefit from everyone being influenced by his teachings. For more detail info please visit our blog here.

China uses a lot less diapers but it has nothing to do with environmentalism usually, I've asked many mothers and mother-to-be's and they all said they think it's healthier for their baby to use the open bottomed pants than Diapers. Both ways have pros and cons anyway, I prefer diapers as I don't like having people going to washroom all over place, just dirty... Especially those who let their babies go to the washroom on the floor inside... that's just sick.

I don't think its healthy to hold a baby above a garbage bin and have it take a shit. Some of them do that really. How is it healthy to put a baby on top of something that has a lot of bacteria.

Lots of parents let their child take a crap on the streets like a dog. And most parents don't even pick the shit up and put it in a plastic bag to throw away. More irresponsible than pet owners......

I don't really like the open crotchless pants thingy really.

People get lazier of taking care of the babies. The diapers are both bad for the babies and the enveriment.

People live in the countries where there are mountains, it is very natural to let the baby pee on the ground.

Diapers aren't bad for babies if you change them regularly and take care of the baby, and if you use cloth diapers that you can wash they arne't bad for the environment. Only if you are lazy and don't change the diaper enough and use throw away diapers it is bad.

And while I agree in the countryside it doesn't matter so much, in cities or on Trains and buses it matters A LOT.... haha smiling smiley

The topic creator must be clueless.

"We believe using less diapers are both good for the babies and for the envertiment. Chinese people use less diapers because we are influenced by famous Chinese philosopher Laozi, whose famous theory is Daoism."

Good job on generalizing an entire country based on bogus assumptions.

This has NOTHING to do with Lao Tzu. Diapers weren't even invented back in the 5th century BCE (time of Lao Tzu), and waste from babies was the last thing on their minds.

The reason why Chinese babies use less diapers is because they are potty trained at an earlier age. Mainland China is a relatively poor and developing country - many people a few years ago simply could not afford diapers. This is the same reason why people in Vietnam, parts of Africa, South America, etc don't wear diapers either - they are potty trained at an early age since most people can't afford to buy diapers.

Not wearing diapers has nothing to do with ancient philosophies, so don't be ridiculous by making up fictional stories.

This system is very smart.
We need so many wood for producing the paper of a diaper.
30 years ago this paper diapers didn't exist.
The mothers were using diapers made of fabric. Towel kind.
long towels wraped them around the baby, and washed them in the boiling water.
smelled a bit in the house. But the forest was still alive.
The people who make efforts and help the nature, will be rewarded for that.

Want to know why Chinese babies use less Diapers?
It's easier to collect the poo and mix it with the food served to dumb foreigners.

Most Chinese don't use Diapers, You can see it in the street when Chinese parents let their children squat and pee on the road. That's why baby pants here always have the big split up the middle, ease of peeing in the street.

I don't agree with that chinese babies uses less diapers. It totally depends on the baby how much it pee in a day.But as far as environment is concerned i agree on that the diapers are not good.

I saw lots of babies with open bottomed pants when I lived in Chongqing. I don't think it is good for the environment when kids do poos on the pavement as I saw.

And also - don't their bottoms get cold?

It must be uncomfortable for the child in cold weather!

At first when I arrived in China I just felt awful for the poor mothers who needed to buy expensive carpet cleaners to clean their rugs daily instead of simply changing a diaper. It seemed like an unreasonable amount of work just to save on the cost of diapers. Watch NFL Games live

I think the "less diaper" thing is more of a tradition. Before disposable paper diaper was introduced to China, Chinese were using reusable cloth diapers for new born babies. You can imagine how much laundry work you need to do to clean them for reuse. :-) Then the parents need to train their babies to pxx following a schedule so they don't need to rely on diaper any more. However, it can only work if the baby is taken care of by a dedicated caregiver, instead of a daycare center.
