Well, why not pursue that number two boy's friend that one that is so awesome?
Birds of same feathers, yes; but no bird is exactly the same right?
Good luck of finding the best match.

eh, because he is the friend. He only feels comfortable with me and knows me because his friend tells him all about me. And that would be kind of a messed up bitchy move to hit on the friend knowing he likes me, even if he has no idea that I know. Just because he is too shy to go after me blatantly doesnt mean he isn't doing it. I think he is still trying to show me his "best face" so he is being too careful/stilted, but he started to show his real self when we went to KTV and that guy I'd really like to know...

LOL ok buddy, have fun. I hope these two are older than the first one, or at least more mature in thinking. Btw, which one you like better? the friend or the friend's friend ?

eh... they are... 22... (I KNOW! It's embarrassing! It's not my fault, they come to me... I'm not a cougar tongue sticking out smiley) but yes they are much more mature and really goal oriented/focused. I dont like the "friends friend" I only talked to him the one time, I just think he is a really cool guy, so this guy is probably even cooler than he seems, because he is shy and doesnt show himself to me so comfortably yet (in person, in writing he tells me everything and then some about himself).

oh and I am at my friends house now, her dad is sooo sweet. I think I will buy them some wine before I go. And cook them something. Havent seen first boy. Might tomorrow but I'm not gonna let him take pictures. I think I am over that nonsense. I enjoy talking to second boy a lot. He is more creative than I thought.

Hung out with boy #1 and some strangers. He was totally freaked out. I never realized he was so so sooooo shy. He could barely formulate sentences he was so anxious (with the strangers). I had never seen that side of him. Our mutual friend kept bringing up boy #2 and telling him (in Chinese! OMG I understood!) about #2 and my adventures. He asked questions and seemed generally shocked and confused by everything.

Maybe he thinks that you betrayed him? or how come you can move on so fast. IDK. But, certainly you gave him a very huge shock!!!1 I hope he can take it well.

Well he better get used to it if he plans to keep hanging out with me/us. I've already made a ton of plans for the New Year and my best girl (#1's female friend) has decided she wants to get to know sweet #2 and his awesome best friend (in particular because they have "nice muscle" hahahaha)so we will probably be hanging out, traveling (our shared hobby) and visiting each others cities/sleeping over very regularly.

Random update: I'm having a blast and still at my friend's house. She wants me to stay until she goes back on the 12th for school and I'm considering it, though my current plan is to go on the 7th.
Boy #1 has been calling my friend to ask about me. She has taken to randomly handing me the phone without warning him every time he does this, freaking him out completely when I say hello. I told him bluntly that he should ask me directly since it appears she has gotten tired of being the go-between in this silly game. He pretended that he didnt know what I was talking about and totally hadnt been asking about me. He also filled my cell phone with money and refused to accept payment from me -_- Honestly, I am sooo over it.

Boy #2 did a seriously messed up (insanely rude and almost cruel although it might be considered saving face/polite by chinese culture) thing to a friend of mine, to the point where my friend now refuses to be in the same place as him. This alone is enough to make me drop him like a hot potato. My friends are like family to me, I wouldnt tolerate someone doing this to my family so I wont tolerate them doing it to my friend.

annnnnnnnd
boy #3 AKA boy #2's best friend... added me on QQ. He's currently traveling around Sanya with boy #2 but making time to chat with me for a few hours every few days. The first day we talked we ended up chatting until 5:30am (7 hours!). Since then he has remained funny and cute, but he also acts really surprisingly jealous. The first day he messaged me I was with my friend and we were both surprised by his enthusiasm. He asked me where I was. As a joke my friend responded "at my darlings house, of course" he didnt reply until I told him it was a joke and then said he thought I meant a boyfriend. When I told him my friend was there he said he couldnt talk (then he stayed talking for half an hour, and after I told him she left is when we talked for 7 hours strait). He also said "Always ____ (my girl friends name)..." in a jealous way when he saw I have a lot of my online profile pics with her in them. A few days ago at my friends grandparents home, one of her small cousins glued himself to my side and spent the day hanging around me, sitting in my lap to nap, read a story and later leaning against my chest to watch a movie. He was sooooo cute I told boy #3 about him, mentioning how adorable the 7y/o is. Then he totally acted jealous of the kid! hehehe grinning smiley I let my friend read some of my convos with him just in case there is some chinese culture thing I have misunderstood but she agrees he is totally jealous. He wont say anything though and changes the subject by stating "I am changing the topic now" when I've asked him directly if he is jealous and wants a profile pic with me or to spend more time with me. As a general rule, I find the jealousy thing kind of.... cute. At least it makes me think he likes me more than the other 2 did/do because he cant hide his feelings about it at all. Plus he is super funny, perceptive, humble, honest to a fault (for example, I gave him a book I had originally intended for his best friend/brother and told him to keep it and not say anything about it since it was a surprise, but he did tell boy #2 and gave him the book. A great sign of character IMO but kind of wierd considering he is sort of going behind his friend's back (not literally, since his friend gave me his QQ# and told me to add him but still, #2 totally has no clue how much we chat) to flirt with me/be jealous in my direction). I'm wondering what will happen now that I've decided not to be friends with #2 because of the totally no-character action he took with my friend. I definitely want to hang out with #3 more, that much I am certain about. Well, who knows what will happen between now and mid February!

All I know is I had a blast getting hongbao for New years and I cant wait to give my friends all their presents. (Yea I got boy # 2 a present already, dunno if I should give it to him. I also got boy #3 a gift but I did not get one for boy #1...)

Anyway
xin nian kuai le!

Chinese is a little better, but not toddler level yet. I'm still working on basic words although my comprehension has gotten way better and now I can differentiate words easily and say tones properly. Problem is my vocabulary is still too small.
Hongbao was interesting. I got one for 5RMB, a bunch for 10, a couple of 20, 4 of 50 and 1 of 100. I think it depends on what the person giving can afford (I also think they give more to their own kids, tho my friends parents gave her the same amount as me)and if say it is for an older person sometimes they give them multiple envelopes and I noticed the grandparents getting hongbao too, then going and giving the kids MORE envelopes during the following days, just randomly. I think they gave away their own parent-hongbao and their majiang winnings lol. I felt kind of bad though, like I was taking money from the kids when I am a grown woman. My friend's parents know I'm 27 but they absolutely refuse to believe I can be older than maybe 24 -_- and I'm sure her family thought I was younger. I tried to slip the kids (teenagers) my hongbao and they wouldnt accept it either.

#2... Hmm #2 is a nice guy to me, super nice but for some reason with him I have always gotten a bit of a sense that he thinks WAAAY too much about mianzi and guanxi. I know for a fact that he has used me and my other Western friends for this purpose before because he asked my permission the first time, but after that he just started volunteering me for stuff (which I hate) and I refuse to go along with it, so he ends up losing face. Anyway, last time I saw him I was with my guy friend from Iraq. A bunch of us went to #2's city to see his show in mid january (where I finally hung out with #3 alone) including a german guy from my school who is pretty tight friends with #2. So, we all know each other so german guy casually invites my iraqi friend to go traveling with them and he accepts the offer. 4 guys were going: 2 german guys (who dont care who goes, they invited everyone), boy #2 and boy #3 (who also doesnt care). My Iraqi friend called boy #2 to find out the details and make sure he could go and boy #2 acted totally cool and normal, even talking to me about it while talking to my friend (on QQ) but he lied to my friend about all the plans and on the day of leaving refused to answer his phone or text when my friend called to find out where to meet. This after my friend had changed his schedule to go along. Finally at some point the german guy found out he was calling and sent him a text saying "sorry we couldnt invite you." Seriously rude behavior. But I know german guy would have sent the text earlier if he had known, so boy #2 was keeping that private, he intentionally did that to my friend. He also hasnt talked to me since that day, the same day he gave me boy #3's QQ #.

Buddy,
Thank you for the information about red envelope. I did not get one this yearsad smiley or last yearsad smiley( or the year before last year either sad smiley((
Honesty is very important, it is not good to lie at all. But, maybe he lied for a good reason?
Have a good weekend and keep me informed

lol, looks like you are pretty, so can I have one of your photos?
I'm a Chinese boy, in fact almost Chinese boys are very shy in their lives, but once online, they may become too different.
Most Chinese boys are not good at dealing with girls, The more the girl they like, the more they perform reticent, but they talk lively and jovially with girls whom they don't very like, such as some of their average female friends.
However, once you break up with each other, you can't even be friends.
