Question: buying a handheld or smartphone in Shanghai?

I am planning to purchase Pleco's Chinese learning software, however I live in a remote corner of China where none of the hardware that can run Pleco is available. I'm going to Shanghai this weekend, and I'm planning to pick something up while I'm there. Pleco runs on various HTC smartphones, iPAQ handhelds, etc. I'm concerned about a couple of things, and any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

1. What should I expect to pay relative to U.S. prices? I want something is good quality, not cheap and flimsy. Will a quality device cost roughly the same in Shanghai as it does in the U.S., or am I getting taken for a ride if I pay that much?
2. Where's the best place to buy this kind of thing in Shanghai? "Metro City" is mentioned a lot online; is that the best bet? Alternatively, given the various risks of buying things at those sorts of "markets" (shoddy merchandise, being ripped off), and that I'm not likely to have a native to help me out, would I be better off buying from a place where products are real and the price is set? Is there such a place to buy this sort of thing in Shanghai?

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,

JC
