the best area to live in near the city?

it depends on your purpose. well you know, some people look for a place that is good for business while others wish for a good atmosphere. Hongkong, Shenzhen, Beijing, and Shanghai are the best places to live in China.

suzhou is a good choice

Mohe in northern tip of China. There u can see the northern lights and experience -30 degree C.

Best place to live is depend on what you are looking for. Also if the best place does not have the kind of jobs that you are looking for, you wouldn't be moving there since you would end up unemployed or not having the dream job. So I would find best place to find your dream job and have moneys to travel around when you want to. People tend to get tired of the same old thing and always want to explore and experient something new. Just my 2 chinese cents...

I am in Guangzhou but I think Hangzhou or Suzhou is a good choice, as Knowing Su Hang.

beijing is good,if you live in the suburbs of beijing ,i think is great.because you can share the publicresource,at the same time the life will be relaxed,the environment is good.

Shanghai, of course! Largest foreigner community. department stores, international restaurants, 1000 sturbucks, amusing nightlive, large chinese middle class society , and the sun! 6 months short sleeves. Just no central heating in the winter. 4 months nightmare for foreigners. But others months are good.

Others city don't have such a large internationl community. In cities Guilin, shenzhen, chengdu, hangzhou, you will feel lonely. Here you can meet people from all around the world.
