Hong Kong is probably getting more and more expensive for business entities, esp. to those small ones. Due to this fact, a lot small companies are moving their operation offices/branches up north to Shenzhen, Dongguan and other big neigbouring inland cities so as to keep their business overheads low. For those companies that prefer to keep their offices in Hong Kong, I assume it's out of the following few considerations;

1. HK is an international city, it's convenient to travel and a nice place to work and live as well.
2. Most of the suppliers they're doing business with have offices in HK, thus traveling to Shenzhen/Dongguan or Guangzhou isn't too often.
3. Their accounting dept./staff are in HK.
