I have visited Xian twice and found it a very interesting place. You mention that Xian was the start of the Silk Road. This meant Xian was a melting pot of cultures and this is still evident today.
One of my great joys was shopping in Xian
particularly at the Muslim markets, just round the corner from the Drum Tower.
There is a Muslim mosque as well. The Muslim influence is a direct result of Muslim traders who came along the Silk Road.
There is so much to see in Xian apart from the Terracotta Soldiers.
