florent écrivait:
>

Hey I finally put all christmas lights on my maple tress and fir, and I have blowup snowman this year.

I light them up first time this year….

Haha, that’s huge and bright…. Yeah……

Even when I live in China, I celebrated xmas in highschool schools back then, recall back in 95, my grade 3 english teacher dresses as Santa and past candies to kids and he got warning by principal and not allowed to teach in my class. Back then, school districts do not allow teacher individually celebrate xmas, as this is not in school curriculum back in China, China is considered religion free in school..

You know I live in this place called Shekou, Xmas is widely celebrated due to many offshore oil workers live here. Xmas is much more holiday to me than Oct 1st, let’s say.

Then I organized kids protest outside the office of principal, we sang “holy night” and requested our English teacher to teach us again.. omg, Principal agreed, and later told me, if I do that again I gotta throw into a jail and charge as “counterrevolution” (haha, only china has so called charges like Counterrevolution WTF) I still recalled my answer was if so, I gotta apply Asylum in U.S embassy…haha….

Anyway, I always love Xmas… after I bought my first home, I put more xmas lights every year, start with little…. And then now I have my whole house and all trees light up. I will take a picture tonight.

I feel so racist though, I think I am the only Asian lives on this street, everyone else is white, they do not have so many lights like I do, not even blow up snowman.. and I am the youngest and I was not born here neither……… I wanna have bigger, much prettier house than any white people….haha

Some kids take photo outside my front yard and tell their mom, I wanna blowup snowman, her mom told her :” we can not afford that!”
I was like ,if you start working and not buy 6 packs, you can afford that.

So sad, recession takes toll to everyone, that’s why I light up early this year..

Then, people do not work hard enough here too, and poor on finance…….i am so racist.

Uberche Wrote:
-------------------------------------------------------
> I don't think he meant Blacks are hyenas, the
> other way around. He was just pointing out the
> obviously stereotyping of Disney movies, and while
> the rest of the animals could be said to be black,
> it does seem very wrong and racist that only the
> evil characters actually sounded like the
> stereotypical black... especially when the movie
> takes place in Africa... Happens a lot in fact,
> Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, the lazy, silly,
> stupid race was teh only one who sounded
> Jamaican... Saw 2012 this week and the trailer for
> G-Force was on it, the only one who sounded like a
> minority again was an angry, violent mechanic who
> sounded spanish, though never saw it so maybe
> there are others, not sure.

exactly. "Hyenas", the one in "the lion king", not really animal.

Do you guys remember how they talk in the movie, some sort of “inner city” black accent?

I do not know if anybody lives in U.S or Canada who watch that movie have similar thought, omg, hyenas are evil, then you walk in ghetto and heard people talk that way. I bet kids might think that way just because influenced by Disney.

Sorry, I might sound too offensive, just to be honesty and find out the reason why people scare of blacks..

Btw, I did not watch the lion king in here, rather back in China when I was like little. But the way hyenas talk just stuck in my mind. It will be naïve to say no other children think the same way.

We asian do not have many characters in Disney, I can think only couple, for example , The Siamese Twin Gang from Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers.

Even as criminals, Asian immigrants, represented here by a gang of cats, have become integral parts of American culture. Kidding! They own a Laundromat, run an illegal, basement gambling operation and speak in horribly mangled "Engrish." It's like a designer of World War II propaganda posters accidentally quantum leaped into the body of a late '80s cartoon writer

Omg, I watched that when I was like 8 years old…. Good lord.

How about “Mulan” , they picture China is so racist to women, women’s duties are staying home and clean house, have babies…..

then, there is The Merchant from Aladdin, remember he sings about " i came from a barbaric land, they cut of your ears, but it is home” ,something like that. what do you think kids heard this when they see Arabs.

So media influences is not only restricted to blacks,

When you guys teach to Chinese students, make sure we have to point that out though…..
Lol….

It too me a while to figure this out until I live in Canada, yes, when I live in China, I pretty much watch no Chinese channels eh? back then I think CCTV is boring, all propaganda stuff, I would rather watch baseball, even though I could not understand 1% of conversation. Because we have dishes, now it’s illegal, so I watch Disney, fox, CBS all the time. And you know how I picture all Presidents should be like “Martin Sheen”. After watching ER and thought American health care was the greatest in the world, holy shit. And i recalled in my highschool class, I told people the story in the ER and why we Chinese health care is sux…. teacher was shock.. back in 90s, this is still considered quite rude if i trash Chinese system.

I know a city call Nashville before i even know a place call "Sanlitun" in Beijing. i know Willie Nelson early than who is my mayor in the place i live...hahaha

When you think back, it is so crazy, how media can influence children even they do not live in that kinda of culture environment.

"because Tibet has always been a part of China right...with even a basic unbiased knowledge of the history of that problem knows that's a blatant lie."

Debating whether Tibet has always been a part of China is irrelevant, since the geographical land masses that compose most of the nation-states today were at one point or another either independent nations themselves or part of other nations that may or may not currently exist for whatever the reason.

The point in regards to Tibet is that it is a paricular geographic area that is an official part of China. Any political, military, or terroristic move to the contrary would be deemed illegal under China's national as well as international law. Hence, China has the full authority to dispense with such separist activities and/or individuals that are either inspired locally or GPE-based as it sees fit.

As for common Chinese governmental support against any Tibetan or Xinjiang separatist movements, for that matter, is not soley based on government-based brainwashing, but on a clear analysis of the geographic facts of Tibet and knowledge of international law.
