Pre-semester Seminar
Includes thorough information briefing, daily tours of Guilin, program welcome dinner with staff, welcome dinner with Chinese graduate students, trip to Longsheng (fall semester participants) or Yangshuo (spring and summer semester participants), and Chinese language and culture crash courses for beginners.
Travel Excursions
3 group excursions (including pre-semester seminar trip) to Longsheng, Yangshuo and Nanning. 3 days and 2 nights will be spent in each of these locations. Day and night tours are provided!
Immersion Program
The core of your learning experience is CLI's Immersion Program, which includes 4 and a half hours of one-to-one instruction per day with 4 unique Chinese teachers.
Full Enrollment at Guangxi Normal University
Attend up to 20 hours of courses per week at GXNU! Course selections include listening, reading, spoken and written Chinese courses in the traditional classroom setting, as well as dance lessons, traditional Chinese art, Kung Fu, Tai Ji, Yoga, and many more.
The Chinese Language Institute does not require that its students take courses at GXNU. Language and culture electives are offered purely as a supplement to CLI's Immersion Program.
Integrated Housing
Total cost of rent for student housing (accommodations include full western amenities, including heating and A/C, washing machine, refrigerator, hot water, internet connection). CLI staff provides all housing costs
and arrangements.
Maid Service
Maid service is provided twice per week.
Pre-Arrival Assistance
The Chinese Language Institute’s international staff provides pre-departure assistance to all its participants. This includes a pre-departure information packet as well as comprehensive assistance in acquiring a student visa (see our Passport and Visa link for more information).
Information and Assistance in China
CLI’s international staff is available 24/7 to provide participants information and assistance while in China.
Travel Arrangement Assistance
CLI's staff can provide all necessary information and assistance pertaining to optional trips throughout China and abroad.
Teaching/Work Experience
CLI's staff has extensive connections throughout Guilin and China that can offer assistance in acquiring teaching and internship opportunities.Teaching/internship terms and conditions are agreed upon between the
participant and the host organization.
