Introduction

The University is a partnership between Xi'an Jiaotong University in China and the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom and is run by a team of prestigious Academicians from two countries. This is the first of such kind of cooperation between two strong partner institutions, approved by the Ministry of Education, starting up with the subjects of science, engineering, and management, and using English as the medium of instruction.

• Suzhou, is particularly famous for its distinctive architecture of Chinese ancient gardens, nine of which were listed as World Cultural Heritage. It is also one of the most economically dynamic cities in China with the local GDP ranking the fourth in China after Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
• China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) includes over 100 Fortune 500 companies amongst the 1800 foreign investment firms.
• The Yangtze River Delta is one of the most important engines of China's economy and surpasses all other regions (including the Pearl River Delta) in China in terms of economic growth, productivity and per capita income.
• Suzhou is easy to access by plane, train and bus. The University is 80 km away from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, 120 km away from Shanghai Pudong International Airport, and 200 km away from Nanjing International Airport.

International Teaching-Learning Environment

• SIP, where XJTLU is located, is a truly international community with nearly 10,000 expatriates coming from over 50 countries.
• XJTLU attracts internationally academic teaching staff with doctorate qualifications and teaching/research experience from overseas.
• XJTLU students and staff come from different parts of the world.
