Hi, I live at china for learning hanyu now, I have been living here for one year, and I am quite happy to live here, but I have something that bother me XD, about the Chinese people behavior, especially the girls XD

I meet some chinese girl, and get knowing each other, I think they are very friendly, but somehow, its feel like it was "over" friendly? I dun think that is a bad manner, but somehow it make me wonder, is that normal?, because we dun have that manner in our country XD

for example, I meet a chinese girl accidentally in our school canteen, that is our first meeting, and she is showing me her photo, asking my name, showing some photo in her wallet, and... dunno. XD seems she is very aggresive for a new friend (its just my oppinion XD) and this is not the first time..

how do u think? ^^;
I need to adjusting my culture with the China culture XD our culture is a little bit different XD

I think I should carefull from now on then
but for some aspect, Chinese people is fun to befriend with, I have joined some club of china-foreigner, where we can befriend with Chinese people, mostly is a girl, since we have chinese girl student more than the male one

hmmm, thats is a good point
but I preffer a girl with a good character more than a girl with a bad attitude, even if she was ugly, every human will be ugly when they are old, it is just a matter of time.

if I married a beautifull woman with a bad attitude, and when we re getting old together, will be hell for me??? (yeah ugly and bad attitude ??)

It's common because people in China want to pratice English very much with foreigners,especially those native speakers.It's ture that some girls go to an extreme,but that's only a small part.Actually,most chinese girls are very self-respecting.

This is so true. My phone is filled will girl numbers and massages. :Girls aks me to save there number and call them if i need any help. its kind of lol though

if they are friendly then they are great chinese u must need to give them respect

i have similar experience here ... get to know many friends specially the girls always want to make friendship saying i want to learn english... and friendship is just a reason i guess so ... what they want is something else??

how come that you always meet girls like that? most of chinese girls that i know are not like what you said,they dont care what the foreigners are like or something .because they know pretty well that it's very hard to make real friends with someone who is from a completely diffrente world. so i think perhaps is your problem.the girls you meet cannot represent the majority.

anyway ,i have to say that there exist someone who desire communicate with the englishspeakers just for learning english,we chinese also dont like these guys.and i feel sorry for that.

I would say you don't represent the majority, or else you live in a smaller, less understanding, city. It's easy to be friends with foreigners, we are just the same as you, you just need to stop being foolish and wondering what to talk about and just treat a foreigner the same way you treat Chinese.

And most Chinese girls I have met in China have been VERY happy to meet and talk with foreigners, and many of them are not English majors and don't want to learn English, most of my Chinese friends I speak to in Chinese because I need practice and they are happy to help.

Wenart: It is not the Chinese girls' "over" friendly problem, but your pretentious thinking. You happened to meet outgoing or social girls who will do the same to other people no matter where they were from. So take easy, Don't stereotyped all girls.

You can't pretend most Chinese girls aren't MUCH more friendly when they meet a foreigner. Some because they want to practice English, some because they want to learn culture and some because they want a boyfriend. But it's not his "pretentious" thinking that does it.

I can tell you why.

You know, the westners shows very friendly manner when they meet friends, even strangers. Like.. looking at your eyes, warm smiling, talking..

In China, people are more closed, shy. If a guy does it to a girl, they would be very good friends or he likes her.

For a girl who had experience or foreign culture, she could know it's just "polite". But for another girls, she would misunderstand your behavior as you want to approach her.

And you are foreigner, most chinese want to give you friendly expression.

Augh, I hate this question. No they aren't over friendly they are just friendly in a slightly different way compared to where you are from. Plus you being a foreigner is a novelty and people in China get curious. I'm sure most of us who would be a foreigner in China have been out to some tourist place and someone from a country town in China is there and wants to take a picture with us because they never seen a westerner before. It happened to me both the first and second time I went...even though my wife says it could be because I have long hair...

Anyway, yeah they aren't over friendly.
