Part-time job while studying in China?

So I want to go to china to study, but wouldn't mind picking up a bit of work to subsidise my extravagant lifestyle.
I figure it would be ok to enter on a work visa and then enrol as a student. As opposed to entering on a student visa and working illegally.
Problem is, how to find a company who wants to employ me for very few hours (I think 'very few $$' is gonna be a given - lol).
I don't want to get 'locked into' a contract that doesn't allow me enough hours to study. Come to think of it, I don't really want to be locked into a contract at all, but can't see any around this.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Peace smiling smiley

Go for a full student visa then teach English on the side. Its what most students do here anyway. You can teach music, dancing and other stuff that's not usually found here. Teaching done by students are self-employed part time and privately so you don't really need a working visa for it.

Teaching gets paid more than getting hired by a company to do something like accounting/sales. So you can see why many foreigners go for teaching. So if your part-time job's goal is just for money go for teaching.

I totally agree with you, as in Thailand, it's good pay also. I have a part time job as an English teacher. I made new friends and got more money. I love it. ^__^

...but that would be illegal! Or is it only a 'little bit illegal'? eye rolling smiley
(in my country - you'd get deported for that. I don't want that to happen!)
I have suspected that I would do better (financially) free-lancing anyways. I want a degree in Chinese language. Don't really want to be in a big city.
