Program: BICC Summer Camp
Age: 12 years and above
Age group one: 12-18 (30th of June to 30th of July)
Age group two: 17-22 (15th of June – 15th of July)

Duration : 4 weeks

Our program includes:
• Language studies:
Lessons focus on listening, speaking, reading and writing. Audio-materials, Fieldtrips, Chinese Table and plenty of interactive activities are used in class. The test is given to determine the student's level of fluency.
• Culture experiences
Tai Chi, Chinese chess, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese history (ancient and contemporary), Traditional Chinese games, Chinese cooking, famous Chinese movies, paper cutting, Chinese Knot, Chinese Painting, Hutong Tour, Folk Dance, Tea Ceremony, Diablo, performances of Chinese short plays and acrobatics are integrated with the language lessons.
• Teaching staff:
Each of our teachers holds a Bachelors Degree or above and is experienced in teaching Chinese as a foreign language to primary and secondary level students.
• Teaching materials:
We carefully select textbooks, supplementary materials and audio tools to suit the fluency level and specific needs of each group of students. Most of the textbooks we use are published by Beijing Language and Culture University and Beijing University.
• Sightseeing:
We arrange guided tours of the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, Olympic sites (the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube), the Summer Palace, Qinghua and Beijing Universities, Hong Qiao and Yaxiu Markets, 798 Art Center, Wangfujing Pedestrian street, acrobatics, Liyuan opera house, Hutong tour (dumpling making, Houhai boat rowing, Museums (national museums, etc, Beijing Zoo, as well as other sites.
• Language exchange with Chinese students: Students have opportunities to communicate with local students at parties, meetings and social activities. Students associations, English training school (EF, format like party or prom)
• Management:
We assign one counselor to every 10 students. Students receive 24-hour supervision by a team of professionals including activity coordinators, language teachers and monitors.
• Sports:
We also provide all kinds of sport activities as refreshments including rope jumping, badminton, Ping pong and so on.

Cancellation & Refund: Notification of cancellation must be received in writing to info@hibicc.com. At the time we receive your cancellation, refunds will be issued according to the following per-person cancellation penalties: 30 days before the start date: Full balance is refundable except the $200 deposit; 15 days before the start date:50% of the payment is refundable except the $200 deposit; 10 days or less before the start date: 100% of the payment is not refundable.

Health: There are some special health considerations for students traveling to China. Respiratory ailments are common and visitors are advised not to drink tap water in China (bottled water, however, is both cheap and readily available). The quality of medical care in China varies, but competent, trained doctors and nurses with a good command of English are available in several international hospitals in Beijing that cater to foreigners. These hospitals charge prices comparable to those in the U.S.

Accommodation: Students will be housed at Hotel rooms which meet the general hotel standard. Our instructors stay together with students in the evenings, and organize activities such as parties, storytelling, and performance during that time. There are a maximum of 10 students per instructor.

Food and Eating Habits: Chinese food on the whole is fresh, well-balanced and healthy. Most meals are served in hotel, although students sometimes also have options for western-style dinners and outside snacks. Students will have lunch outside when they travel.
Restaurants and dining halls usually use salt and MSG in dishes without asking a customer’s preference. If a student is allergic to MSG, do make sure that your Chinese instructor and/or cook knows about it. Street food is generally acceptable, especially if it is cooked at high temperatures. Meat, especially pork, is used in many Chinese dishes, but there are many options for those with dietary restrictions.


What to Bring
Luggage: Bring only what you need. Lightening your load before leaving home will save you from much aggravation and give you more room for souvenirs when you return. Beijing is a modern city, and you can buy almost anything you need if you are willing to search around a bit.
Bring more than one form of photo ID, as well as copies of your passport, visa and student ID.
Toiletries: Most American brands of toothpaste, toothbrushes, soaps, deodorants, shampoos and other toiletries are available at local shopping centers. Organic toiletries are not popular here, so if you prefer them we suggest that you bring them along with you. Sanitary pads are readily available, but tampons are more difficult to come by, so again we suggest you stock up and bring them with you. If you wear contact lenses, bring solution. Saline solution is available for purchase in Beijing, but at much higher prices.
Clothing: Beijing in the summertime is hot and humid from June through August. Bring comfortable, light-weight clothing that is easy to wash and dry, as well as lots of underwear, socks, a raincoat or jacket and two pairs of comfortable shoes for everyday wear. For dress clothes, a day dress, skirt and blouse, or nice slacks and a shirt are more than adequate for any formal occasion.
Money: We suggest that students bring some cash with them, which they can exchange at local banks with the help of their administrator or teacher. However, the easiest means of obtaining funds is with a credit or debit card. ATMs are available at banks throughout Beijing and many restaurants and cafes accept them.

Oh, Yes and No. It is a long story.

I would love to send my daughter on this well known camp I have heard so much but its just very costly. I would love for her to learn a new language and new culture. Maybe next time.
