An exciting range of Mandarin Chinese courses are offered in Shanghai by Mandarin Rocks Chinese Language School, at all levels from absolute beginners to advanced all year round. 16 start dates throughout 2012 for total beginners in Chinese. Non beginners and individual courses start every Monday. Apply 4 weeks in advance (6 weeks in advance with accommodation arrangement).

The courses are offered on fixed schedule and daily basis (Monday to Friday). If you cannot commit to regular course and prefer more flexibility in schedule, check out Private Tuition option, which can be offered in evenings and weekends. Minimum age for year round programs is 16yrs. Younger students can opt to attend China Summer Camp in the summer or take private tuition.

General Chinese, Business Chinese, HSK Preparation
From 2 weeks up to 1 year

Small Class, Fast Progress, Practical Use. Mandarin Rocks Chinese courses in Shanghai fall into three main categories: General Chinese, Business Chinese and HSK Preparation. Placement test will be given before or on your arrival to place you into the appropriate class. The courses are taught by highly qualified teachers in small groups (max 8 per class, average 3~5) to ensure every student gets full attention from teacher and has ample time for practice. Students can enrich learning experience in a culturally diverse environment since our small class is often joined by students of a mix of nationalities. Various optional cultural activities, excursions and site visits (arranged for student group of 5+) are offered to introduce students to multiple aspects of Chinese society.

Type 1. General Chinese
General Chinese 20 (20 group lessons per week)
This popular course includes four group lessons a day. Based on their level, participants can acquire a basic knowledge of the Chinese language or improve and perfect the knowledge they already have. Listening, speaking, reading and writing are all integrated in the class to develop and improve students overall language skills. It is designed for students who wish to learn Chinese whilst experiencing the vibrancy and excitement of Shanghai.
Combined General Chinese 20+5 (20 group & 5 individual lessons per week)
This course is ideal for combining the experience of learning the language in a group whilst at the same time receiving individual classes. The group classes in the morning encourage student interaction and help you improve your practical communication skills. The individual classes in the afternoon allow you to work on areas you may feel need extra practice or which are of particular interest to you. The students who usually take this type of course are generally highly motivated to learn as much as they can in the shortest time possible.
Combined General Chinese 20+10 (20 group & 10 individual lessons per week)
This excellent course offers you the opportunity to supplement a general Chinese group course with 10 individual lessons. Two individual lessons daily allow students to reach specific learning goals more quickly.
Individual General Chinese 20 (20 individual lessons per week)
The one-to-one program is ideal for determined students who want to maximize progress during a short stay in Shanghai.

Type 2. Business Chinese
Business Chinese 20 (20 group lessons per week)
The course is most popular among executives and professionals but also suitable for students who want to pursue a business career that relates to China. Classes introduce key business concepts and subjects and develop practical language skills for the modern business world. Knowledge on business etiquette and practice in China are incorporated into the course.
Individual Business Chinese 20 (20 individual lessons per week)
Teaching content would be personalized specifically to students’ business and professional needs. Particularly suitable for business and professional people and all those who require course tailor-made to their individual needs.

Type 3. HSK Preparation
Individual HSK Preparation 20 (20 individual lessons per week)
HSK was created for students seeking admission to colleges and universities in China. It is designed to demonstrate Chinese proficiency for academic purposes. It is the only mandarin proficiency test recognized by Chinese government. HSK Preparation Course enables basic to advanced students to improve their test performance. Students take four lessons every day to study the grammar, vocabulary, listening comprehension, and reading skills necessary to score well on the test. Practice tests are taken each week and reviewed extensively with teacher .We will assist students with registering for the HSK exams.

Airport transfer

You can get Shanghai housing right in vibrant city centers for the duration of course. Our housing facilities in Shanghai offer the convenience and comfort necessary for an easy transition into living in the big city. Students can reside in private studios or single room in shared apartments in central Shanghai close to school with easy access to public transportation and restaurants, supermarket, shops, banks and other living facilities nearby. Homestay, serviced apartment, hotel, hostel can also be arranged upon request. Housing request should be made at least 6 weeks before your arrival. Eligibility requirements
The language programs are open to applicants of all nationalities above (include) 16yrs open for Chinese culture. All levels are accepted.

Application deadline to this program is 4 weeks before your chosen start date. Later bookings might be possible but only accepted on case to case basis. Prospective students are encouraged to book as early as possible.
