Grammar
The modal particle 了
When the modal particle 了 is added at the end of a sentence, it indicates changed circumstances.
- 我不要 了。
- 我不去上海 了。
- 我是老师 了。
Helping verbs 会, 想, 要, 应, 该
Helping verbs such as 会, 想, 要, 应 and 该 are more often than not to appear before verbs to express ability, possibility, intention, wishes.
Example:
- 我 会 用筷子。 I know how to use chopsticks.
- 我喜欢 吃中餐。 I like to eat chinese food.
- 我想 去北京。 I would like to go to Peking.
- 你应该 买一张地图。 You should buy a map.
