Located in the Old Town of Shanghai and laid out in 1559 AD by a powerful Ming official, Yu Garden recreates a beautiful landscape of pagodas, pavilions, rockeries, fountains, ancient trees and precious flowers.
Often ranked as China's best museum, it is the biggest museum in China with a fine collection of over 120,000 pieces of Chinese artifacts.
Where the great trading houses and banks had their headquarters in the 1920s and the 1930s. The Bund is about about a mile long, it is the city's fulcrum.
Yangtze River Cruise
Fengdu Ghost City
Constructed on the Mingshan Hill by the river bank, it is so called because of the legend which goes that about 1,700 years ago, two officials, Yin and Wang (the combination of their surnames means "Ghost King ") became Taoists here and eventually Immortals. Now with fantastic temples of underworld demons and gods, it shows the Chinese ghost culture and is a place for punishing the devil and awarding the good.
A small tributary of the Yangtze River is 60 kilometers long and is famous for its picturesque scenery. Shennong Stream is beautiful and ancient. When you take a sampan drifting along it, which is not without risk yet exhilarating and a challenge to battle with the nature. You will be attracted and surprised by its crystal clear steam flowing swiftly from north to south through deep gorges, steep ridges and peaks, thick vegetation and wild flowers, flying birds and a plank road built along a cliff and ancient hanging coffins. Sweet love songs will be presented to you by the local ethnic people.
Three Gorges Dam
The largest water conservancy project ever undertaken by man and it has been a dream for several generations of Chinese people. The construction of the dam formally began in 1994. The body of the dam was completed in 2003, and the whole construction will be competed in 2009. It will be 2,335 meters long, 185 meters high, 18 meters wide on the top and 130 meters wide at the bottom. The tourists can get access to the top of the dam and enjoy different kinds of photo opportunities.

Shanghai highlights packed in one day! You are most certainly excited to see them all: Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai Museum, The Bund, The Shanghai World Financial Center and Jiangnan Silk Shop and Workshop.
Yuyuan Garden, in the center of Shanghai old quarters, covers a total area of 20,000 square meters. It was built in the 16th century during the Ming Dynasty, with typical Chinese classic architecture and style, the only one that was fully restored. A colorful, bustling market surrounds the garden.
Also on the menu for today is Shanghai Museum, a large museum, the biggest in China, of ancient Chinese art. In 1996 it was relocated to the center of the city, the People Square. The building itself is magnificent, with eleven galleries and three exhibition halls in a space of over 10,000 square meters. No doubt you will need some time to explore it. …
You will also visit the Bund, the symbol of Shanghai. The Bund, a 1.5-kilometer-long embankment along the western bank of Huangpu River, is the city's riverfront boulevard, a major trading center of old Shanghai that is now a vital area with modern bars and restaurants.
Your next stop, the Shanghai World Financial Center was completed in 2007 and then was the second tallest building in the world. Its observation deck, at 474 meters above the ground, is still the tallest in the world. It is a multi-function skyscraper which consists of offices, hotels, conference rooms, observation decks, and shopping malls on the ground floors.
Visiting Jiangnan Silk Shop and Workshop, you will be able to see how silk is produced from A to Z, and to do some shopping in the Shop's showroom.
Shanghai to Chongqing:
In the morning you will take a 2 hours flight to Chongqing where the Yangtze River cruise starts. Chongqing or Yu is a modern city that was established in 1997. The city is located in the mountains, and is surrounded by two rivers. You will have enough time today to visit Chongqing Zoo in the suburbs of Chongqing City, the biggest urban zoo in China. It is famous for the various animals, more than 230 kinds of them are rare species, including the Giant Panda, the rare South China Tiger, and the African Elephant The highlight of this attraction is the Panda House which covers about 2 hectares in size. The Panda House is designed according to the natural environment of the Giant Panda. You can get close to watch the giant pandas.
Ciqikou, also known as Little Chongqing, is a 1000-year-old town preserved in modern Chongqing, about an hour's drive from the city centre. Ciqikou - 'porcelain harbor', used to be a busy commercial dock during the Ming and Qing dynasties when it was an important source of chinaware. Today it is a peaceful place where you can take a break from the busy city life.
Yangtze River Cruise:
No doubt you enjoy your Yangtze cruise! Today you will have a shore excursion to Fengdu, the “Ghost City” to learn about China’s ghost culture. Fengdu is situated on the north bank of the Yangtze River about 170 kilometers (110 mi) downstream from Chongqing. It is also called "Home of The Chinese Divine Comedy". According to superstitious legend, the dead come to Fengdu Ghost City and the devils go to hell. Since Tang Dynasty, forty-eight temples have been built in the place featuring buildings and ghosts that provide a model of hell.

Yangtze Cruise to Yichang:
Today pass through the Gorges Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge, and then, you will have an excursion to Shennong Stream (around 5 hrs).
Qutang Gorge is the shortest (8 kilometers), narrowest and is considered the most spectacular of China's Three Gorges. The mountains on either side are very steep at 1,200 meters (4,000 ft). This combination of narrow canyons among high mountains creates spectacular scenic views.
Wu Gorge stretches 45 kilometers (28 mi) from Wushan to Guandukou, and is located downstream of Qutang Gorge. The gorge is known for its deep valleys and forest covered mountains.
Shennong Stream, a left 60-kilometer tributary of the Yangtze River, is one of the most important attractions of Yangtze Three Gorges tour. It originates in the southern part of Shennongjia Natural Reserve and joins the Yangtze at Xirangkou in Hubei's Badong County. The scenery in the stream looks magnificent, precipitous and isolated. The banks are settled by Tujia ethnic groups. The natural beauty of Shennong stream has attracted the interest of all tourists. You can take a sampan to go deep into the beautiful gorges and admire the scenery.
Yichang, Fly to Shanghai:
This morning, stop at Sandouping to view the historic Three Gorges Dam, the largest hydroelectric project in the world (2.3km).Three Gorges Dam is regarded as historic, engineering, social and economic success, with the design of state-of-the-art large turbines. (Each main turbine has a capacity of 700 MW). The dam project was completed and fully functional as of July 4, 2012. The Three Gorges Dam attracts tourists because it combines modern project, nature scenery and cultural landscapes.
After visiting this magnificent site continue on to Yichang where you board a flight to Shanghai. On arrival, transfer to your hotel to check in and have a restful night.
